Eight boneless arms that reach, grip and climb. He stacks blocks, squeezes into a jar, hides under a bowl, and tidies the room when it gets messy. A character, not a loop, and he is cute on purpose.

Octopus puts a small coral-pink octopus in a child's bedroom with a curtained window, a toy chest, a bed, a nightstand and lamp, a jar of water, a bowl, a ball, lettered blocks and three pictures. He has big dark eyes and two ear-like fins, flushes pink when excited and pales when sleepy.
Five drives, energy, curiosity, playfulness, tidiness and thirst, rise and fall with what he does, and every possible action is scored against them, its distance and how recently he did it.
The bedroom and octopus are drawn as 2D canvas shapes and gradients, at most 1,440 pixels wide, and handed to WebGL each frame. His arms, the curtain cloth, the blocks and the ball run on simple physics.
Ambient New Tab is free to install, with five free themes. Octopus is a Pro theme. Pro is $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year, cancel anytime, or $59 once for Pro Forever, and it unlocks every Pro theme, music sync, and every new theme as we release it. You can preview Octopus full screen before you buy: open the Themes panel and rest your mouse on it. Changed your mind? 14-day refund, no questions.
Octopus follows the sun where you live and turns to night after sunset. You can also pin day or night in the Themes panel.
The chest holds two rubber ducks and a green marble; the nightstand drawer holds a flashlight and three marbles. He heaves the lid or pulls the drawer open, fishes something out, carries it around and later puts it back. A flashlight he holds shines a beam.

Yes. On the wall he sometimes wobbles a picture or knocks it off its nail, more often when playful and not very tidy. His urge to tidy then builds until he rehangs it, and he forgets each fix after about a minute and a half.
Hiding appeals more when he is tired, and much more when a strange cursor has just appeared. He slims down behind the right-hand curtain, slides out now and then so one eye shows, and comes out after a few seconds.
